What Is the Frenum and Tongue-Tie Release Process?
The procedure at UMG Family Dentistry is quick and performed in our office. During the procedure, the dentist will use a laser or surgical tool to gently cut the frenum. This allows for better movement of the tongue or lips. The tongue-tie procedure is minimally invasive and does not require general anesthesia. Numbing cream or a local anesthetic is typically used to ensure comfort. For tongue-tied babies, the procedure is especially quick with many infants resuming feeding immediately after the release.
